COMPANY HISTORY
Formerly known as Paints & Coatings Distributors Nigeria, the Company based in Port Harcourt, commenced business in 2001, to service the needs of the Oil and Gas Companies, paints and coating requirements as the sole distributor of the oil and gas industry’s leading brand – International Paint Protective and Marine Coatings, a business unit of AkzoNobel.
The demand, from discerning Nigerian businesses and individuals, for world-class paints and coatings led the Company to pursue its vision of becoming a fully fledged manufacturer, providing world class services to its Nigerian clientele, and to succeed in doing so.
In 2008, the Company evolved into Paints and Coating Manufacturers Nigeria Limited (PCMN) and has since extended its product offering to include a variety of brands and products proudly manufactured for the Nigerian marketplace.
In 2015 the Company secured the rights to exclusively sell and manufacture the Plascon range of Decorative and Architectural products in Nigeria.

- PCMN has further shown its commitment to world class quality standards, by attaining certification to IMO/PSPC Status and the ACQPA quality systems.
- This commitment to quality led to PCMN being awarded the manufacture of the Coating Systems for the World’s largest FPSO ever built, TOTAL Energies Egina Field FPSO, as well the award of 4 LNG Carriers manufactured in South Korea for NLNG where PCMN manufactured and exported to Korea and China, over 1,000,000 litres of coating systems.

Interplan
Holistic Asset Integrity Survey
lnterplan is a bespoke Asset Integrity Survey System designed by International Paints, which provides a comprehensive condition report for Onshore & Offshore facilities to determine levels of severity of coating failure and corrosion in accordance to ISO standards.
The report further provides a multi-year prioritized maintenance planning system including cost budgeting to assist maintenance engineers in long term maintenance planning.
This system provides for enhanced life cycle of clients corrosion protection of assets against a mode of deterioration model using micro and macro environmental condition definitions.
UHP SERVICES
Africatuff
PCMN represents Africatuff UHP and HP Water Jetting systems in Nigeria. Africatuff specializes in Ultra High and High-Pressure Water Jetting/Blasting (hydro blasting) systems, mobile or permanent installations, custom engineered to suit the needs of all industries.
The UHP and HP pumping systems that Africatuff manufactures can cut through concrete and steel, stri paint off any surface, heat-exchanger cleaning, and many other applications related to every industry’s requirements for UHP and HP Water jetting.
Comprehensive structured training scheme
Training
PCMN is the Sole provider in Nigeria for Steel Structure Painting Council (SSPC), The Society of Protective Coatings in Nigeria under corporate membership of AkzoNobel. SSPC is a world recognized training and certification portfolio for coatings applicators and inspectors. SSPC is a comprehensive structured training scheme to develop the skills of workers within the surface preparation of coating application industry.
The courses are suitable for both experienced and newly recruited personnel as well as those personnel involved in corrosion protection contracts.
Local Content
Shareholder commitment to Nigerian Content Development
PCMN, was established in 2001, to bring to the Nigerian Oil & Gas Industry, the world’s leading brand of Protective & Marine Coatings, International Paint.
In 2008 The draft Nigerian Content Development Bill, was introduced by Government, to ensure that much needed jobs were added to the Nigerian economy and to develop manufacturing capacity in Nigeria.
As a result of the ongoing success of its Distribution business, and in line with the NCD Bill goals and ambitions, the company embraced the NCD Bill, including shareholder representation, and the shareholders of PCMN made the bold step of deciding to manufacture the Protective & Marine Coatings of International Paint in Nigeria,and commenced manufacture in 2009 in Lagos Nigeria.
By adding Decorative & Architectural paints manufacture in 2012, PCMN further enhanced its offerings to the Paints & Coatings industry.
This significant commitment to the NCD Act, has enabled PCMN to evolve into Nigeria’s leading Paints & Coatings manufacturer.
The results of this commitment are shown in the number of employees growing from 15 personnel in 2001 to over 150 – personnel and the cascade impact for suppliers and service providers to PCMN has seen significant numbers of jobs created in Nigeria, a success story of Nigerian manufacturing of which the shareholders of PCMN are very proud.
Corporate Social Responsibility
PCMN has undertaken and continues to regularly undertake Corporate Social Responsibility Programs such as:
- Provision of portable drinking water for the host community.
- Contributing to the security system in the host community.
- Supply of Paints and application for Painting of host Community Mosques and Church.
- Supply of Paints to the Divisional Police command in the Community.
- Supply of Paints to the Ikeja Immigration office.
- Annual sponsoring of host community Youth end of the year event.
- Sponsoring community school sports event.
- Free training for local Painters.
- Annual development contributions to the NigerDelta communities where the company supplies products.
- Donations of Mozzi products to schools in Greek environment of Lagos state.
